The Province has adopted the 2024 editions of the British Columbia Building Code, including Book II Plumbing Systems, and Fire Code (BC Codes 2024) which will come into effect on March 8, 2024.

BC Building Code 2018
The BC Building Code (BCBC) is a provincial regulation that governs how new construction, building alterations, repairs and demolitions are completed. This code establishes minimum requirements for safety, health, accessibility, fire and structural protection of buildings and energy and water efficiency. It applies throughout the province except for some federal lands and the City of Vancouver.
The Province of BC is now offering the BC Building, Plumbing and Fire Codes online at no charge. This aligns with the Federal Government of Canada's recently announced changes to the National Model Codes.
